Welcome from the Carrollton Cycling Club

We want to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Monday and Wednesday evening rides.  Three years ago our club formed an agreement with Irving Bible Church (IBC) to use their parking lot as a starting point for our weekly rides.  At that time, we were asked to adhere to several requests.  In return, we would be allowed to use their parking lot and restroom facilities.  If you have not joined the club, you are riding from this location as our guests.  As such, we ask that you also follow the simple guidelines as they were given to us.

1

Parking is only allowed in the lower parking lot, we have been asked not to park west of the lower hedge line.

2

Please leave restroom facilities in the same condition you found them.
Place paper towels in trash receptacles.
Leave countertops clear of trash.

Parking in the upper lots has become an increasing problem.  It may not make sense to you for us to park close together with all the open space in other lots, but please help us out and conform to the IBC agreement.  We were asked to leave our last parking site, because many would not adhere to that agreement.  Please help us keep a great relationship with Irving Bible Church.

About our weekly rides:

CCC is a small organization.  We enjoy riding our bikes for the fitness and fellowship of our members.  We ride on municipal streets and share the roads in this area with commuting motorists.  One of our ride groups was recently stopped by the Irving Police Department (IPD).  The group was asked to either ride single file or in a two-up pace line.  This is the second season we have been asked by IPD to be more courteous on the road.

Many faster riders enjoy riding as a peleton rather than the pace line used by our members.  This has proven to be unsafe, as several recent crashes bear out.  Additionally, this type of grouping takes up too much of the road and often interferes with motorists, causing complaints to IPD.  Please follow the rules of the road as requested by IPD.

Above all, keep in mind that aggressive riding or racing is simply not safe on municipal streets.  Doing so will no doubt cause accidents.

The sad fact is that this area is becoming more congested with commuter traffic.  Eventually, we will be forced to locate a less congested area.  For now, let’s ride safe and keep the aggressive riding for less congested areas.

In conclusion, we ask that you help us out with our agreement with the church and follow the rules of the road as requested by IPD when you are riding as our guest.
